Pit of Despair

Pit of Despair is a labyrinth which consists of three parts. You can go there through The Abandoned Mine Shaft down the elevator (To find the Mine Shaft, go south of the town of Lang. You will soon enter the Redwood Gap. Then follow the road until you find the merchant named Rhod Emell. He will tell you that the Mine Shaft is to the east, so go to the east and there you'll find it.)

1) First part of the Pit of Despair is a labyrinth build of high brick-built walls. You need three skulls to enter the second part of the Pit of Despair.

I have a perfect guide for the first part of the Pit of Despair from GameBanshee Forum:

The pit has 3 unique chests inside and the key. I found a Zahrisk Slicer in one chest, has 4785 in average hit points. Even though I play the pit every game it is hard because you can't see.

There are 6 paths from the beginning elavator. four like an H ib its side and two like an upside down L. The upper right of the laying down H goes to two skulls the paths can be seen when your standing in fromt of them. The first chest is down the Upper Left leg of the laiying down H. The final skull is down the lower left leg of the H 180 degrees from the direction walk down the stairs. This is also the way to the exit door to the path maze.

The path maze is indescribable. I just work at it until I have the key. The two remaining chests are near the exit elevator.

You may or may not get anything good from the pit.

This guide is outstanding provided you understand the directions. So "right" does mean "northern" and "left" does mean "southern".

The first door says:
"Three conquered foes will in turn conquer me."
So when you'll find three skulls and then you'll find the door, the door will open after you'll use them (the skulls will be removed from your inventory) and you will be able to enter the second part of the Pit of Despair-the "path maze". I got to the second part approximately after 45 minutes.

2) Second part of the Pit of Despair is a "path maze". It's up to me now to explain you what do I mean "follow your right hand". It does mean you have to go forward and always when you are able to turn to the right, you have to do so. If your only option is to turn to the left, turn to the left, but if you can choose from various directions, always turn to the right (your right hand always have to be near the wall). You may also chance upon a blind alley (dead end), i.e. the place where the path ends. In that case, turn 180 degrees and continue running using the same method. See the picture below:

So, when you'll open the "skull door", follow your right hand and after a few minutes you will find the second door-the "ankh door". The path maze is the most difficult part of the Pit of Despair. You have to find 4 Lost Artifacts and place them into the hands of the four statues.

<<This is the most difficult section of the whole pit. You will really have to roam a bit until you complete it. When I just tried to follow my right hand, I had found just two Lost Artifacts and then I had found the "ankh door" again so there is no simple way to describe this part of the Pit of Despair.>>

Then you can pick up an ankh, which is a key to the second door.
The second door says:
"Return that which is lost to the four who bind me and one will point the way."
So when you got the ankh, find the second door and you will be able to open it (the ankh remained in my inventory after opening the second door). From opening the first door to opening the second one it lasted me approximately 67 minutes.

3) I could call the third part of the Pit of Despair "the Goblin bridges". It is really the easiest part of the Pit of Despair. Just follow your nose...sorry, your right hand and you'll get out soon enough (soon you will find the exit area which is the same as the starting area so you know what you have to be looking for). (From Dungeon Siege Heaven Website: Four rights and a left, that's all you need to know.)

To get from the "ankh door" to the exit elevator it lasted me approximately 7 minutes. There are two chest near this elevator.

Enjoy, and good luck!
